Cat Tumor and Vomiting

by Kathy

My cat has a tumor on his back and lately he has been vomiting a lot more than usual. They are projectile at times.

The vet said the tumor will grow larger. It started out like a mosquito bite and now its like a golf ball.

Is the vomiting caused from the tumor and causing my cat severe pain? He seems to meow more and constantly want attention. I don't have the money to get it removed so I am trying to save enough but it will take time and I worry he is suffering now.

What to do?

Vet Suggestion Cat Tumor with Vomiting

Hi Kathy,

It is possible that the tumor is related to your cat’s vomiting, particularly if it has spread internally.

The changes in your cat’s behavior (e.g., increased vocalizations and attention seeking) make me think that he is uncomfortable.

The best thing you can do for him at this point is to make a recheck appointment with your veterinarian. He or she may be able to tell you what is going on and make some effective treatment recommendations based simply on a physical examination and perhaps some blood work.

It is possible that surgery is no longer the best option for him, so it might be best to spend the money you have saved on figuring out what is going on right now.

Good luck,

Jennifer Coates, DVM

Try checking into CareCredit.com. It is a credit card that can be used at participating vets and human doctors also. They offer no interest loans for up to 18 months. It has been a lifesaver when I was in a bind with one of my cats. It was very simple and quick to apply and I was approved within seconds when one of my cats was sick ($700 vet bill with very bad timing!). Best wishes to you and your cat.
