Change in Litter Box Sign of Cat Urinary Tract Infection

by Cat Heath Guide Reader

My female cat Sophie is going to be 16 years old this spring.

She was treated this past summer for a urinary tract infection.

I always use the same brand of cat litter but I noticed when cleaning her litter box, her urine did not seem to clump as it normally would. Rather it soaked through the clumping litter
and stuck to the bottom of the litter box. It was like scraping thick clay off the bottom of the box. This made me suspicious
because her urine usually clumped.

So I took Sophie to the vet and sure enough she did have an infection.

Hope this helps someone else!

Thanks

GNS
