Cat Dry Itchy Red Skin Problems

by Vivien
(West midlands uk)

I have spoken to you before about this problem with my female cat - and your answer I found to be very helpful. But one of the products that you mentioned was - "Panalog topical cream " Can you tell me if I can only get this off my vet, or can it be bought anywhere else. And if so how much would it cost, - in English money. many thanks indeed for help. Vivien

Dear Vivien,

I'm glad we were able to help. Panalog Cream is only available with a prescription. It can be purchased online from National Pet Pharmacy for $20 U.S. or 12 British Pounds.

There are a few over the counter alternatives. These include:

HomeoPet Skin & Itch Relief (15mL)
, available for $14 US or 8.69 UK pounds).

Dermasol Skin Care Gel for Cats & Dogs (2.1 oz)
, available for $8.99 US or 5.57 British pounds.

Halo Cloud Nine Herbal Healing Salve (All Natural)
, $14.99 US or 9.29 British pounds.

Remember that the Panalog cream is made for your cat's specific skin problem as it contains Antibiotics and Corticosteroids which are used for this specific purpose. A prescription is required so that protocols or guidelines such as dosage and safety are achieved.

The alternative over the counter products are non prescriptive, and can't be termed as specific. Over the counter approaches can help, and may or may not be as effective as a medication that is more specific to the problem.

Best wishes to you and your cat!
