Cat Claw Covers

"Cat claw covers are a convenient way to keep your cat's nails from scratching the furniture and people in your home. The nails do not interfere with the normal functioning of your cat's claws and are easy to apply. "

Scratching is a natural behavior for cats. Cat claws grow in a way that is similar to human fingernails. Option for protecting your home and family from scratches includes providing your cat with a cat scratching post or tree and cat claw covers.

Soft Claws Cat Nail Caps can be effective approach for dealing with the problem of sharp cat claws. Plus it is a simpler and more humane alternative to declawing a cat. They were developed by a veterinarian for this specific purpose.

The covers do not interfere with the normal functioning of the claw and are not uncomfortable for your cat. The covers are applied to both the front and rear claws.

A six month supply costs approximately $12.50.

Purchasing Soft Claws

Each package of Soft Claws for Cats contains 40 nail caps, 2 tubes of adhesive, applicator tips and instructions. A package lasts for 4 to 6 months with the caps being replaced every 4 to 6 weeks.

You can purchase the caps in different colors or clear.

Selecting the Right Cat Claw Cover Size

Different sized cats require caps which are different sizes...from kitten through large. Read the package or online description before selecting a size for you cat. Here are some general guidelines for purchasing:

Kitten Claw Covers: Most kittens will have large enough claws for covers at age 12 to 16 weeks. You can fit a nail cap without adhesive first to make sure they fit before applying. You can also cut the nail cover to fit your kitten's claw. The kitten size should fit up to 5 months and up to the body weight of 5 pounds.

Small Claw Covers: These are made for cats that are approximately 6 months and between the weight of 6 to 8 pounds.

Medium Claw Covers: These are for cats between 9 and 13 pounds.

Large Claw Covers: If you cat is over 14 pounds, then she will probably need large sized covers.

Applying Cat Claw Covers

Soft Claws can be applied in four simple steps (follow the directions on the package).

1. Trim your cats nails. Kitten claws do not need to be trimmed before applying.

2. Fill the cap with an adhesive to the 1/3 mark

3. Slide cap on the nail

4. Hold your cat for a minute and you are done.
